Greater Baltimore Chamber of Commerce Rebrand

In late 2021, we published a blog post consisting of our top tips we’ve discovered throughout our 25 years in business at Innovative Party Planners.  One of the lessons closest to our hearts in that blog post is making a conscious effort to invest in the community around us. Over the past year, we’ve been lucky enough to do just that throughout our collaboration with the Greater Baltimore Chamber.

Getting the Bid for a Rebrand

After GBCC was greenlighted to receive state funding for their rebrand, they began discussions with several businesses in order to find a partner to bring the project to life. Right away, the opportunity caught our attention and we wanted to learn more. After a competitive screening process and proposal submission, we were rewarded the rebranding project from GBCC! Our team has worked with GBCC on many projects and events in the past, so the trust was already there, and we were ready to get to work!

“Heidi’s proposal and design concepts stood out. She has a keen eye for design and pays careful attention to understanding her client’s needs. She is flexible and knows if and when to pivot.” -Beth Rheingold, President & CEO, Greater Baltimore Chamber of Commerce

A Successful Rebrand!

With the help of the Executive Director and the Chamber Marketing Committee, Heidi Hiller and IPP Graphic Designer Mallory Wheeler began brainstorming logo ideas for the new rebrand. We started with a thorough research process and began drafting black and white designs. (The first three logo designs presented to the board can be seen to the left)

After presenting and discussing our designs and use of symbolism with the committee, we were given valuable feedback and got back to the drawing board. (Below are the second round of logo designs present to the board)

When we next met, we were pleased that they chose our favorite of them all! Now that we had the logo concept down, it was time to move forward with colored iterations (the fun part!)

The board quickly fell in love with the blue and green gradient palette of the logo to the left and the decision of the new logo was finalized!  This final step included drafting branding guidelines that GBCC will be able to use as a resource for years to come. Even without the GBCC text, the icon and colors have become both more memorable and recognizable.

“We went through many iterations of our logo, with Heidi patiently guiding us. When she presented the logo with the color palette, we didn’t even need to look at other colors.” - Beth Rheingold, President & CEO, Greater Baltimore Chamber of Commerce

The Logo Explained

And A Reason to Celebrate

The name of our business alone plainly states that we are in the event planning industry, but we were up to the challenge of contributing to a successful rebrand thus far in our collaboration with GBCC. Our team is often tasked with branding events, and we begin designing events with the event logo design, establishing the colors and feel of the event. That’s exactly the process we used here, and we felt right at home when the time came to design the launch party and deliver a speech presenting the final product.

We are very grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with GBCC! Check out some of the photos from the launch party, that were captured by the lovely Heidi Marie Bell Photography.

“Heidi Hiller and her team at IPP are consummate professionals and leaders in the industry. We are where we are today with all our new beautiful marketing pieces because of Heidi’s professionalism, creativity and, above all, her unwavering support.”

-Beth Rheingold, President & CEO, Greater Baltimore Chamber of Commerce
