Belair Auto Auction’s 75th Anniversary Celebration

Throughout our time in business at Innovative Party Planners, we’ve noticed a hand full of things that separate good events from great events. Paying close attention to the little details and all the planning that goes into big events is critical, and seeing the end result come together after all that planning is among the most rewarding parts of our work.

Of course, when it comes to planning big events, we don’t go at it alone. When our team, our vendors, and our clients all collaborate to develop and plan the nuances of events together, we find that we can do our best work. That was certainly the case for Belair Auto Auction’s 75th Anniversary Celebration!

Accelerating from 0 to 100, and Beyond!

Our team has worked closely with Belair Auto Auction in the past, including their 70th Anniversary event. We already had a great relationship established, and we were excited to be called on yet again to plan their 75th.  This time, Julie served as Lead Designer and Heidi as Lead Planner.

As we were placing the final finishing touches on this event, we realized that it was getting a lot of attention. First, we expected 150 attendees. Then 250. Then 350. The final attendance? Around 400, some even flying in from all over the country!

While the event was originally designed to accommodate less than 200 attendees, we stayed agile enough to adjust the plans in just a few weeks’ notice to account for the building hype. In fact, we had some of our best ideas during the lead up to the event! The red carpet and champagne dress ladies were added as the event grew bigger and bigger, and they were both huge hits!

Bringing the Theatrics of a Performance to the Venue of Your Choosing

 This event was not planned for an ordinary day, so we didn’t use an ordinary approach. Our whole team was contributing excellent ideas leading up to this event, and we’re so proud of how all the little details came together to create an event with twists, turns, and something exciting around every corner. Here are a few of the “pieces of the script” that came together to create this unforgettable event:

  • Delicious and creative appetizers, incredible action stations and lots and lots of dessert

  • Diamond/ champagne hoop dresses (playing off the 75th diamond anniversary)

  • Contemporary occasional and cocktail seating featuring furniture groupings turned this auto auction bay into an incredible party

  • An 85’ long by 12 ‘wide red carpet welcomed guests in the lobby

  • A spectacular fireworks performance right after sunset which stopped traffic as far away as I-95

  • An afterparty featuring our live band and mood lighting after guests came back inside following fireworks

All in all, we couldn’t be happier with how successfully this event unfolded. Even as the guest list doubled, we stayed flexible and delivered a memorable experience for all in attendance.
