As always, there are a lot of new exciting trends expected to surface in the event planning industry as the year goes on. In this blog, we compile a list of our favorite fresh event ideas and trends for the new year!

Live Events with Proper Caution Are Making a Comeback

Perhaps the trend we are most excited about is the return of live events, with proper caution of course! While we still need to be cautious of the world around us, live events are absolutely possible when specific safety planning is in mind. Smaller, more intimate events (aka Micro Events) with smaller guest counts and safety precautions set in place (such as proof of vaccinations, negative covid test, and social distancing measures) are expected to be a fixture in the earlier stages of the year. Critically, event planners across the industry have worked tirelessly to deliver top tier hybrid and virtual event experiences over the past two years. At this point, all three mediums have become our bread and butter, and we can’t wait to continue hosting hybrid events even after the dust of the pandemic has settled.

Food

While the situation with the pandemic has improved over the last year, it’s not time to abandon caution just yet. Event hosts are prioritizing guests’ COVID safety as well as security to ensure the health and well-being of the guests and event staff. That’s why we expect an emphasis on food safety to remain a fixture at in-person events with passed appetizers, individually composed small plates, and individually packed food items.

Beverages

We’ve all been cooped up at home for long enough, so let’s travel to paradise with some pretty drinks! Aesthetically pleasing drinks, both with and without alcohol, are the perfect addition to any gathering. Bonus points are awarded if the drinks match a theme! The roaring 20’s is sure to be one of the hottest themes this year, but you can’t go wrong with other classics like a throwback to the 90’s or a Disco from the 70’s.

Color

Goodbye doom and gloom and hello neon glow parties! It’s time to ditch neutral colors and get the party going with an explosion of COLOR in 2022. Pantone said it best with their recent announcement of Very Peri as the Color of the Year:

Sustainability

An emphasis on sustainability is a trend that we expect to continue growing in 2022. In fact, efforts to increase sustainability throughout the industry will be with us for the foreseeable future. Throughout the last year, there was an industrywide lull in green efforts as many event professionals chose disposable alternatives in the wake of COVID-19. The shift back to sustainability will unfold as the virus becomes less of a threat, and we plan to provide biodegradable or reusable alternatives to plastic bottles and cutlery.
