Introducing Our Extension of DISCO To Go, Candles for a Cause!
If you read our latest blog or newsletter, you know we recently started a new rental division, called DISCO to go, and it has been a hit! As many of you know this idea came to us during a time of reflection this past year, and we thought it was a great way to give back to the community that has helped us in so many ways! Although DISCO is still in its early stages, we have loved to see how it has helped all of you, even in the smallest of ways. It was then we got a bright idea! We had found yet another way to help the community out while doing our part to reduced our carbon footprint.
Introducing Candles for a Cause
We are pleased to announce, as an extension of our DISCO To Go rental division, Candles for a Cause! We are now donating a portion of our rented 'used' candles to local non-profit organizations and charities we hold near and dear to our hearts.
The average burn time for a votive candle, which is one type of candle we offer to our clients, is upwards of 10 hours. The average duration of an event such as a wedding, bar mitzvah or graduation party, varies but is typically anywhere between 4 – 5 hours. This leaves many of our clients with half spent candles, which majority of the time get thrown away during the clean-up process. However, Candles for a Cause will give these candles an extra life, instead of wasting away in landfills for years to come. We also offer pillar candles to our clients as well, and seeing as you can get hundreds of hours of use out of these candles, the ability for one single pillar candle rental to keep on relighting and giving to causes is nearly unlimited.
How it Works
At the end of each event, our customers will be asked if they would like to donate their half-spent candles to our DISCO To Go rental division, giving these candles a chance to bring light to another event! From there, customers can scroll through our rented candle options and purchase these candles for their own events! Proceeds of those rentals will go directly to local community charities and nonprofit organizations.
Once you purchase your candle from DISCO TO GO, you have the opportunity to repurpose the candle to match your exact event theme! Check out some examples of how we took partially used pillar candles and gave them a completely new look. We created these gold star candles for a Meals on Wheels event. After a wedding, these pillar candles were repurposed into beautifully pressed wildflower and herb candles for an Associated event honoring 18 years of the Pearlstone Retreat Center.
As a small, women owned company, giving back to the community that has helped us get to where we are now, is very important to us. Like one of our clients mentioned, we are happy to be able to use our resources to “bring light” back to our community, after the dark times we faced due to the pandemic and light the way for funds as well!
