After 14 months of COVID-19, the world is ready for the proper start to the Roaring 20’s. According to a recent survey, 81 percent of meeting planners will hold their next in-person event sometime in 2021, with 59 percent of those events scheduled to take place in the second half of 2021.

Social events are happening now in backyards, parks, breweries, farms, by lakes, under pavilions and outdoors. We just had our first, “comeback event” on May 9th, and take it from us: It is so good to be back! This particular event was a micro wedding held in our brides’ parents’ family room and front yard, with just over three dozen in-person guests that we had the privilege of spending the day working with. We also had the honor to see some of our favorite event family after a year of strategizing over the internet almost exclusively. While this was an in-person event, there was also an online portion for any guests who were unable to travel or preferred that alternative. One of the highlights of the wedding was the intimate champagne toast that the bride and groom shared immediately after their ceremony with all of their guests who attended virtually.  We expect similar hybrid events to remain a popular party trend throughout the rest of 2021.

The demand for parties in 2021 is very real, and we predict that it’s only going to ramp up from here. Like we said, people are ready to get back to celebrating. Additionally, so many cancelled parties from 2020 are starting to be rescheduled now that we’re starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to the pandemic.
